Flavored Grilled Paneer with Cheese Sauce

” Necessity is the Mother of all Inventions ” The saying holds apt in every context. I believe, that this recipe is also out of my necessity to make paneer frequently for general cooking purpose. In India, Paneer is a easily available product in every General store, so I hardly remember when I made Paneer at home. However, since the time I shifted to Munich, Paneer was difficult commodity to acquire. Thus, making Paneer at home was more convenient and cheaper, besides home made Paneer was anyday more fresh than the one imported from India or other Asian countries. One day while making Paneer this Recipe came like an idea and I just started making it, and it turned out to be a delicious relish. Here is this simple, easy and finger licking Paneer with a twist “Flavored Grilled Paneer with Cheese sauce”


(Serves two. Preparation time – 10 mins, Cook time 1hr 15mins)

For Paneer –

1. Milk – 1lt.

2. Cumin Powder – Half tsp

3. Crushed Black pepper – Half tsp

4. Coriander – 1 tbsp

5. Salt – 1/4 tsp

6. Cheese Slice – 1

7. Lemon – one

8. Butter – 1tsp

For the Cheese Sauce

1. Cheddar Cheese – one cube

2. Milk – 1 1/2 tbsp

3. Fresh cream – 1 tbsp

Procedure :

For Grilled Paneer –

In a heavy base pot/sauce pan pour one litre milk and bring it to boil. Stir milk occasionally. Squeeze one lemon juice to it. Keep stirring till it curdles. Later add crushed Black pepper, Cumin powder, chopped coriander and Salt. Tie it in a muslin Cloth and keep it aside under heavy weight for an hour. Your Flavoured Paneer is ready. Now cut the Paneer into two Slices horizontally and place a cheese slice between it, like a sandwich. Heat a pan and add Butter to it. Place the Paneer Cheese Sandwich in the pan and grill on both the sides till its golden brown.

Keep stirring it till the milk curdles
Add crushed Black pepper
Add cumin powder
Add chopped Coriander
Add salt
Tie it in a Muslin cloth and let all the and let all the whey come out and place the residue under some weight for about an hour. Your flavoured paneer is ready.

For Cheese Sauce

Heat a sauce pan add milk, grated cheese to it. Stir on low flame continuously till the cheese dissolves completely. Now add cream and turn the flame off. Season it with any herbs of your choice or mixed herbs. Add a pinch of salt if required, as cheese already has salt in it. Your cheese Sauce is ready.

Serve Hot Grilled Paneer with Cheese Sauce and impress your guest with this simple but exotic dish.
